FOR THE HEALTH OF IT!

What have you done for the health of it today? This is a good question to ask yourself and to commit to doing something/s to care for YOU every day.

There was once a time when people’s inspiration and motivation to take care of themselves had more to do with how they looked than how they felt inside. Things seem to be changing and people are recognizing that well-being is invaluable and worth working for. It’s not done instantly with a pill or by waving a magic wand. It is accomplished through commitment to living a healthy lifestyle. What we once believed was healthy does not seem to be enough and there is a drive to eat clean, go green, keep it simple and pure. Purification of the heart, body, mind and soul.

In my mid-50's, most people mistake me to be much younger. I must say, I do feel better than I ever have. It’s a testimonial to the clean and healthy lifestyle that I have been living for many years … long before it became mainstream. My reason for extreme self-care is not about the way I look, but about how I feel. It was a hard earned endeavor as I previously had some health challenges that brought me to my knees and led me to extreme self-care. When we feel good inside, it shows and we glow on the outside.

We can nurture our bodies by caring for them with clean and healthy foods free of antibiotics, steroids, pesticides, herbicides, preservatives, food coloring and added sugars. Eating healthfully does require discipline but will affect you by giving you energy for all your daily activities.

We don’t have control over everything we breathe, but we can attempt to keep the air in our homes pure by eliminating harmful chemicals found in pesticides, herbicides, cleaning agents, soaps, detergents, fragrances, and more. Keeping plants in the home such as peace lily, bamboo, chrysanthemum, ivy and other broad leaf plants can help absorb chemical impurities and negative energies.

Some practices that I recommend for purifying on the inside include meditation, breath work, yoga, movement, therapy, body work and energy healing to name a few. Participating in inner-work to help keep our beliefs positive and clear emotional blockages is key to finding inner-peace and living free of dis-ease. Entering into the state of relaxation allows the body’s natural healing capabilities to take over.

To stay vibrant and healthy I recommend doing things that feed your soul. You know you are on to something when it makes your heart open like a lotus and feels as if it is humming. Do what makes you happy! These positive vibes ripple out into the Universe and draw more of the same to you. We touch people in a meaningful way when we are joyful. The warmth of your smile is contagious and can bring a smile to others.

Self-care has never been more important with stress at an all time high. As Benjamin Franklin said, “An ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure.” Making the commitment and taking the time to engage in healthy habits is quite possibly the most worthwhile thing you can do because it benefits you and everyone you come into contact with. Get centered in that feel good space within and allow the positivity to flow out!
